Managers and staff may access core services either through the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services’ (MGCS) Doing Business website or by telephone (24/7).

Employee and Family Assistance Program Services (EFAP) have been designed to help employees and their family or dependents achieve and maintain their best health and professional performance by providing the tools, resources and support they need to take a more proactive approach to managing their health risks and other workplace issues. EFAP is a voluntary, confidential, short-term counselling and advisory service that connects you and your eligible family members to a network of dedicated professionals who are available to give employees and their family or dependents assistance 24 hours a day.

Obtaining Services
Most EFAP services used by employees have been categorized as Core services and are available to all OPS Employees and eligible family or dependents and are available at no additional cost.

Core services include:

  • Counselling services (in-person and telephone)
  • Dedicated telephone line for calls regarding WDHP information services
  • Provide information on Children’s Crisis Hotline (new service)
  • Financial Advisory Services (Telephone)
  • Legal Advisory Services (Telephone) 
  • Career and Resiliency Coaching (Telephone)
  • Vicarious Trauma

The initial term of the Agreement is for five (5) years. Ministry of Government and Consumer Services has the option to extend the Agreement on the same terms and conditions up to two (2) additional terms, one for up to three (3) years and second for up to two (2) years terms.
